The Swedish airline Skyways is launching a direct flights from Berlin-Tegel airport to Vilnius starting on 7 June 2011. The service is being operated as a codeshare with Airbaltic and can already be booked through the airline’s booking system. The airline will be flying six times a week from Berlin to the Lithuanian capital and back.
Daily except for Saturday the Embraer ERJ-145 will take off at 3.45pm from Tegel and will touch down again at 6.20pm local time in Vilnius. The return flight leaves Vilnius at 2.45pm and lands in Berlin at 3.15pm. The flight time is one hour and 35 minutes.
The capital city of Lithuania, situated where the Vilna flows into the Neris, was joint European Capital of Culture in 2009 with Linz. There are plenty of attractions to explore and discover in Vilnius, including more than 50 churches, which has gained the city the byname “The Rome of the East”. It is said that from wherever you are in Vilnius you can see at least four church spires. Church spires are not the only landmarks on the city’s skyline: you’ll also see the Europa Tower, the highest skyscraper in the Baltic region, and the 326 metre-high television tower.
