A direct air route from Aberdeen airport UK to Azerbaijan has been launched by Azerbaijan Airlines.
The Azerbaijani national airline is now offering direct flights to Baku, two flights a week on Tuesdays and Sundays to the capital city, using an Airbus A319 aircraft with 24 Business class seats and 90 Economy seats.
As part of the launch, Azberbaijan Airlines has entered a codeshare agreement with UK regional airline, Eastern Airways, offering onward connections from Aberdeen to Norway and domestic flights linking the length and breadth of the UK. A special ticketing agreement has also been established with Eastern Airways.
Jamil Manizade, Deputy Director Executive of Azerbaijan Airlines, said: “We are delighted to offer a new long haul service from Aberdeen to Baku. Aberdeen is Europe’s oil capital and as oil is a leading commodity in Azerbaijan, this new route will be an important service for this global industry. As well as offering a business class product, a codeshare with Eastern Airways enables us to offer connections to Norway and many parts of the UK.”
Aberdeen Airport Managing Director Derek Provan added “We are pleased to welcome Azerbaijan Airlines to Aberdeen Airport and we look forward to building a relationship with them. We wish them every success for the future of the service”.
The Republic of Azerbaijan is the largest country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Azerbaijan is regarded as one of the world’s most important centres for oil exploration and development.
