Volaris Begins Flights to Mexico City from Oakland

Volaris Airlines plans to expand low-cost, daily nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Mexico City (MEX) beginning May 6. Now, Bay Area travelers have 21 weekly flights to choose from between OAK and Mexico as Volaris also operates two daily nonstop flights to Guadalajara.

Volaris’ daily nonstop flight between OAK and Mexico City will operate as follows:

OAK to MEX
12:20 a.m.
6:30 a.m.
MEX to OAK 7:55 p.m.
10:30 p.m.

MEX daily flight begins on May 6, 2011. All times are local.

”Volaris, Mexico’s second largest carrier, began service at Oakland in July 2008 and operates from Terminal 1. OAK is the fourth largest airport in California and the additional flight will make it the third largest gateway to Mexico.
A commercial agreement between Volaris and Southwest Airlines allows both carriers’ customers to travel between a variety of destinations in both the U.S. and Mexico. Passengers from Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Boise and Reno-Tahoe will be able to make easy connections to the Mexico City flight at OAK. Travelers currently enjoy the ability to purchase tickets on each others’ websites.
