Amid a decline in travel to Japan due to the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis there, Delta Air Lines said it will temporarily suspend its new flights to Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
The Department of Transportation has granted a temporary waiver of service between Detroit and Haneda. Delta applied for the waiver following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Delta will continue to operate the service through the end of August (last flight Aug 31 westbound and Sep 1 eastbound) and will reduce or suspend the DTW HND service from September, returning to daily year-round flights at the end of April 2012.
Delta's nonstop service between Los Angeles and Tokyo-Haneda will be unaffected. Delta will continue to operate nonstop service from Detroit to Narita and Nagoya offering industry-leading service to customers. Customers who booked on a flight from Haneda to Detroit will be reaccommodated on flights from Narita to Detroit, or can request full refunds.
Rescheduling Flights
If you are scheduled to travel between Detroit and Tokyo-Haneda on Delta, Delta Connection®, or Delta-coded flights after August 31, 2011, you may choose to make a one-time change to your ticket without a change fee, or you may request a full refund.
