Delta airlines has cancelled plans to resume flights between New York-JFK and Cairo, Egypt next month, after the flight was suspended in February. Delta will continue to offer service between the U.S. and Cairo via Paris and Amsterdam .
delta is adjusting flight schedule to reduce underperforming flights. Delta's trans-Atlantic capacity is now expected to decline 4 percent in 2011 as a result.
This is the only change being made right now. Delta continues to monitor customer travel patterns and may make further schedule adjustments as necessary.
the JFK-CAI service was temporarily suspended in February, and tentatively scheduled to resume in May. It is now suspended indefinitely.
Delta will proactively reach out to customers to reaccommodate them or provide refunds. Customers traveling between New York and Cairo will be reaccommodated via Paris on Air France, or via Amsterdam on joint venture partner KLM.
Affected customers can reschedule their travel without penalties or fees and may request a refund if their flight has been cancelled.
