State carrier Caribbean Airlines has officially launched its service from Port of Spain to Orlando, Florida.
“The arrival of Caribbean Airlines and its connections to tropical getaways is great news. It furthers our plans as an airport and as a community to cultivate and connect to markets that have historically been under served. This is good business for Orlando International and the 35 million people we serve and is good business for all of Central Florida”, says Cesar E. Calvet, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
The new service starts an initial schedule of two flights per week from Orlando International to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad featuring Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Many of the passengers were parents with plans to take their children to experience Disney World Orlando as a reward for success in the SEA examination.
CAL acting chief executive Robert Corbie told the Express at Piarco minutes before the inaugural flight that the direct route to Orlando made it easier for vacationing parents and children.
The flight from Piarco International Airport at 10 a.m. on Tuesday was 97 per cent filled, he said.
